Get amongst the crates and cases, racks and stacks in this guided tour of The Dowse Collection Store. Established in the 1970s, The Dowse Collection is home to over 3,500 pieces with a significant focus on studio craft—making it one of the largest collections of this type in Aotearoa.

Learn from Collection Managers Jo Wehrly and Abigail Timmins on how these precious taonga are stored and cared for, and get up close and personal with some of the remarkable pieces in our fascinating, diverse and quirky public art collection.

This event runs in conjunction with Fool's Gold. Fool’s Gold is part of The Dowse Art Museum’s 50th Anniversary programme, continuing our commitment to acquiring and exhibiting artworks that highlight key developments in New Zealand art by artists of significance. These have been explored in previous projects such as All I Want To Be (2019), Fiona Clark: Te Iwi o Te Wāhi Kore (2017) and The Cabinets: Peeking Into The Collection (2013–2014).
