Our latest exhibition is inspired by the work of late Wellington architect Ian Athfield and brings together the sculpture of Peter Rumble and the illustration of Jill Sutton.

Many Wellingtonians will know Peter as the owner of Rumbles Wines which operated for many years in central Wellington. Now very involved in the Wellington pottery scene, Peter is a fan of Athfield architecture and will be exhibiting a series of hand-built ceramic sculptures of Athfield-inspired buildings - Buildings with Ath-itude.

Complimenting Peter's sculptures, will be the work of one of our regular artists, Wellington painter/illustrator Jill Sutton. Jill will be exhibiting a series of pen illustrations of Wellington buildings, including the well-known Athfield house on Onslow Road. Jill is a largely self-taught artist and cites her main sources of inspiration as the landscapes and buildings around Wellington and Porirua. Her work is photorealistic and the result of a painstaking process driven by a search for perfection!

Buildings with Ath-itude runs from 16 June to 17 July at Mitchell Studios in Khandallah Village.

Gallery hours: Tuesday to Friday 10am to 3.30pm and Saturdays 10am to 2pm.
