Join university lecturer and passionate community activist, Mazharuddin Syed Ahmed, for this four-part course that seeks to help participants understand online hate speech and discrimination and equip them with the knowledge and tools needed to transform rather than challenge it. In view of many recent events (the recent developing unrest in the USA, the communal hatred being stoked in India, global reactions to COVID and the Christchurch Mosque Terrorist attack), it is important to find collective means and methods to counter hate speech.
The course is spread across four sessions which will focus on:
- Understanding Social Media Hate Speech Sentiment (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube)
- Understanding the Hate Pyramid, Paradigm of Hate, Prejudice and Discrimination
- International Organization, Hate Monitoring and Activism
- Twitter hands-on Workshop
Mazharuddin Syed Ahmed is a Christchurch Mosque Attack survivor. He is a Building Performance Data Scientist with an extensive teaching background in data literacy program development, Architectural Visual Communication, Curriculum Development and Technology Evangelism.
