Join printmaker Sue Weston over four weeks to explore the creative potential of printing on paper with a gelli plate and acrylic ink. This simple and easy process produces colourful and stylish prints with the help of stencils and other mark-making textures.

You will have fun with stencils, moving on to make your own stencils and textures from everyday household and craft materials, to make a wide range of vibrant prints. These will be suitable for display as well as making into cards, collages and other projects, such as art journals.

During the course you will have the opportunity to look at inspirational collages made by other artists to gain design ideas. Then in the last session you will each complete several collage pieces from your own printed papers.

This class is suitable for art beginners through to experienced printmakers. A love of colour and pattern and enthusiasm are all you need, you won’t need drawing skills. Detailed handout notes will be provided.

Most of the materials will be provided to use during the course, including gelli plates, paint, rollers, white copy paper and stencils.

Where: CAN workshop, 16 Byron St, Napier.
