‘Storytelling through Songwriting’
Learn how to stretch and expand your songwriting with Bonnie + Get more out of your Accordion playing with Pete .

Whether you’re a seasoned songwriter or are looking to put pen to paper for the first time, come along for a conceptual sharing that will help us all grow as creators. As always, there is no wrong or right so it will be less of a ‘how to’ and more of a group creation workshop, so bring your brains and instruments (if you like) for some music making!

Along side this workshop, by request to return, Pete Shaw will offer a session in exploring the capabilities of the accordion – focusing on the use of the Left Hand bellows.

Workshop Open to all abilities.

About Good Habits: www.goodhabitsband.com
Composed of singer-cellist Bonnie Schwarz and accordionist Pete Shaw, Good Habits fuse folk and jazz within their original songwriting, create folk-infused songs that test the limits of their traditional instruments.Bonnie and Pete both graduated as Composers from The University of Manchester (Bhons Music and Drama; Bhons Music) with Bonnie being awarded the Hargreaves fund prize for composition.

During their international tour, Covid-19 left them stranded in New Zealand, but thanks to the warmth and support of new friends, they have made the most of NZ’s triumphant recovery and are making more music than ever. During their hibernation in Paekakariki, they captured the collection of songs from their travels for their most recent album; ‘Going For Broke’ represents their leap of faith as Good Habits pursue their musical dreams on the other side of the world.

Since, they have been awarded winners of the Purbeck Folk Rising Competition and they look forward to a summer full of performing, with performances at Geraldine Festival, Canterbury Folk Festival, TSB Festival of Lights, Splore, Resolution, Revive and More.
