K'Road presents: Discover Symonds Street Cemetery

Hidden amongst the bustle of busy motorways and inner city streets is Auckland’s oldest cemetery. Set in a secret garden of wild bush and streams, it's a significant heritage site and the final resting place of a who's who of Auckland's history – from the famous early colonists and politicians to the ordinary folks who are buried there.

Explore the stories of the past through this guided walk and learn about the many communities represented in the burial grounds, including Catholic, Anglican, Jewish, Presbyterian, Methodist and Māori. You'll discover why it's an important part of the K'Road landscape and a highly valued taonga in the community.
