Mama's Got The Blues features singer-songwriter Isabella (Izzy) Miller Bell Aka Ma Bell and finger-style/slide guitarist Susan Leigh Grant.

These two vintage blues mamas are coming out the kitchen to deliver a slick programme of superb acoustic roots, from original composition and eloquent Dylan arrangements to classic blues and jazz from Billie Holiday, Bessie Smith, Josh White & John Lee Hooker, to Fats Waller, Joni Mitchell and Joan Armatrading.

Susan and Izzy have been performing together since the '90s, keeping alive the tradition of women in blues. Susan a two-time award winner at the Gore Golden Guitar awards is known for her clean sensitive acoustic fingerstyle and sizzling slide guitar, a perfect accompaniment to Ma Bell's soulful chocolate hazelnut vocals and rhythm guitar.

Heralded by NZMM (July 2003) to be one of NZ's most musical Scottish imports, Izzy an immigrant from Clydeside is an independent musician with 4 albums under her belt and a 35-year career performing international, nationally and locally at major events, festivals, schools and prisons.

The face behind Miller Bell Music and The Christchurch Pop Up Concert Series Ma Bell has earned a solid respected reputation as an artist/musician/producer working with communities throughout the South to keep the home fires burning through what has been a tumultuous decade of change and adjustment.

This is a special partnership of women in blues not to be missed.

Door sales only event but seats can be pre-booked at the Miller Bell or Fairfield House websites.

Seating arrangements and capacity will be governed by any Covid restrictions that may be in place.
