Matariki 9 Course Stellar Degustation Dinner

Celebrate Matariki under the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve with family and friends. Join us at the Retreat to share conversation over an innovative nine-course degustation dinner prepared by the Retreat chefs with each course linked to the 9 stars signifying Matariki. Wander outside between courses to view Matariki, Puanga and Tautoru in the dark sky overhead (weather permitting).

Matariki is a time for all New Zealanders to celebrate our connection to the environment and the food resources that we are privileged to have in abundance. It is a time to think about travelling and coming together as a family and friends. The production and preparation of food and planning our extensive vegetable garden for spring are important elements of the Retreat's authentic approach to growing and serving food. It is a core part of our manaakitanga and guest experience. This year, the Retreat is aligning with the 9 stars of Matariki and celebrating with an innovative nine-course degustation dinner.

During the evening, opportunities exist to view Matariki, Puanga and Tautoru and hear the stories of Matariki. (weather dependent)
