Join Jane Rooney of Architectus, for a closer look at this striking building which effortlessly blends a contemporary look and feel with heritage elements from the former 1950s chapel that stood here. Learn how this building is of this place, with the peaks and valleys of the roof form that reference the ‘V’ huts that served as churches in the European settlement of Christchurch, how it holds the past and how it serves the school’s present needs.

Jane Rooney is an architect with more than 20 years’ experience. An associate in the Architectus Christchurch studio, she has considerable experience in residential developments, commercial, civic and education projects. She is a strong advocate for promoting the importance of the built environment and diversity in the architectural profession. She was the local Project Architect and part of the team responsible for the design and delivery of the award-winning Centennial Chapel at St Andrew’s College.

Join Open Christchurch on 15 & 16 May. With 46 open buildings, two guided central city walks and dozens of special activities (from children’s workshops to performance as well as expert talks and tours), Open Christchurch 2021 is a celebration of our architecture. Discover new spaces or get up close to buildings you love, for free.
