Orbital – ‘What goes around comes around’

Earlier this year, Creative Arts Napier threw a few sunbeams out into the galaxy, and scooped up some stars in the arts community to launch an idea into space.

As a result, CAN is proud to host a major collaborative fundraising initiative that will involve and support approximately 40 invited artists from the local community.

The mission was to order 40 large concrete ‘orbs’ made by Napier artist Gary Brooks and supply one to each invited artist, to embellish the interior surface in their own individual style. The Taradale RSA generously assisted with the purchase of the orbs, from which 50% of the sale price will benefit CAN (a registered charity).

The artists’ work will form a large exhibition that will go on display in the beautiful CAN Main Gallery for the 2021 Hawke’s Bay Arts Festival from 8 – 28 October 2021.

Come and explore our universe, peek into each orb and enjoy the diversity of ingenuity and creativity abundant in our arts community!

‘Orbital’ will officially open with a celebration for the artists and supporters on Friday 8 October, 5-7pm. At level 2 numbers attending will be monitored but all are welcome! (We kindly request that masks are worn and social distancing rules are observed).

All orbs will be available to purchase and are affordably priced between $350 - $700 each.
