The best Hip-Hop show in the South has become a Mini Festival. Aerosol spraying, legs pumping, rhymes flowing and turntables scratching - Hip-Hop Hooray!

The highly acclaimed Ōtepoti Hip-Hop Hustle is back and bigger than ever!

ŌHHH will be a Mini Festival running from 3 pm to Midnight on Saturday 20th March. This event is a complete celebration of Hip-Hop culture, represented by multiple performances of the 'Four Elements': MC/Rapping, DJ/Scratching, Dance/Breaking and Graffiti Art.

Dunedin's best Hip-Hop talent will be performing, alongside exciting Nationally acclaimed Special Guests.

Ōtepoti Hip-Hop Hustle began as a small event, with the same kaupapa/purpose, to celebrate hip-hop culture in its entirety, in a live context. This was called On The Fringes Of Society and took place in Dunedin Fringe 2018 at Suburbia. In Dunedin Fringe Festival 2019, with support from Dunedin Dream Brokerage, we saw the full vision come to life - All Four Elements performed in one showcase, providing an audio and visual feast for the audience.

Through huge popularity and support from Dunedin Fringe, OUSA and Starters Bar we are able to present this unique show once again. In the last Dunedin Fringe Festival Awards, Ōtepoti Hip-Hop Hustle was nominated for Best Music, Best Visual Art and won Outstanding Emerging Talent. The feedback and reviews from this high energy show were extremely positive and the community has sung praises for an event that celebrates the raw, gritty, positive, conscious and highly influential nature of Hip-Hop.

There will be opportunities to win Spot Prizes kindly gifted by our Local Sponsors through crowd participation. This could be freestyling or flaunting your dance skills! There will also be epic food and drinks available, served by the friendly Starters Bar crew. Under 18's must be accompanied by a legal guardian or family member and will be asked to wear a U18 wrist band. This event is whānau/family-friendly.
