Our Footsteps are all Entrances

Experience the music, poetry and light in this world première work, unique to Ōtepoti, composed by Jeremy Mayall with design by the afterburner.

In this premiere performance, presented by afterburner in association with the University of Otago and the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra, we experience a unique collaboration between words, music, sound and light to craft something that resonates with the experiences of Dunedin and the Otago Peninsula.

Our Footsteps are all Entrances is a unique work for solo violin and fixed media. Commissioned by violinist Tessa Petersen, this piece is originally based upon works from the poetry collection Homing In by Cilla McQueen. This work combines the voice of the poet alongside, within, and interconnected to new musical compositions by Jeremy Mayall.
