The Heartland Flyer - Mother's Day Special

Travel with Steam Incorporated north from Kapiti via the spectacular Manawatu Gorge to Woodville for an easy day out to celebrate Mother’s Day. The train will be hauled by one of our restored steam locomotives and we will be using our fleet of classic red heritage carriages including our Buffet Car. Passenger stops will be Paekakariki, Paraparaumu, Waikanae, Otaki, Levin, Shannon and Palmerston North.

While travelling through the Manawatu Gorge you will be able to view the large slips that have closed the highway on the opposite side of the river.

There will be a stopover at Woodville for about 90 minutes for you to enjoy some food and craft stalls set up at the recently renovated station, showcasing local produce, crafts hot snacks. If you want some exercise it is a 15-minute walk from the station to the town centre.

As it is Mother’s Day we intend to have a surprise or two for some lucky ‘mums’.
