Vox Baroque presents a wonderful programme of four sacred solo soprano cantatas by Baroque composer Christoph Graupner. Graupner is a direct contemporary to J.S. Bach, but his church cantatas are more operatic in nature and less busy in terms of texture. Soprano Amy Thomas is currently completing a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) through the Waikato University Doctoral Scholarship programme. Often heard in the Hamilton Cathedral evening Vespers service, these Baroque cantatas will be presented in the more intimate setting of Te Whare. The harpsichord, flute, strings and voice will recreate the beautiful music of Graupner, some of which has not been heard for over 300 years. Free entry. 1-hour concert. Parking GATE 2B, Knighton Rd.
