Enjoy history & conservation-based activities this school holidays at Kiwi North.

Activity session are held with Shirley in the last week of the holidays from Monday 26th to Friday the 30th of April from 10 am.

The activities include a 1898 school lesson in the Riponui Pah School building which includes ink & cursive writing & dress-ups. Get creative with weaving, sock monsters and model boats and play with some old fashioned toys like bows & arrows, kites, rag dolls & much much more!

On Wednesday the 28th of April we are holding the Lounging Lizards Workshop where kids (and their accompanying adults) can learn all about gecko, skinks and even our own special dinosaur the tuatara.

Our Kiwi are feed at 11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm every day and are followed by a question and answer time from our really informative keepers.

Pro Tip: The morning feed is my favourite because Zephyer and Raukura are super hungry for their breakfast.

You'll be surprised how fast they can run when breakfast is made up of their favourite creepy crawlies.

From the 21st of April, you can get close and personal with Flash the Tuatara. Encounters are held every Wednesday and Friday through the holidays.

The keeper will bring him or her (long story) out for a presentation at about 11.20. Please note that encounters are at the keepers discretion.

The Kiwi North Scavenger Hunt is fun for the whole family. It's kind of like Pokemon, you've gotta catch em all!

Chooo chooo!!! Heritage Park Rides start again on the 21st of April and run every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 am to 2 pm.

Note mini trains and tractors only run each Wednesday.

The Drawing Our Heritage exhibition opens in the Mim Ringer Gallery on the 22nd of April. Whangarei’s built heritage is still around us and can be utilised and seen through many perspectives. This exhibition entices local artists to create pieces inspired by our built heritage.

Join us these school holidays at Kiwi North - we are open daily from 10 am until 4 pm.

Please note that all children must be accompanied by an adult.
