We’re bringing to Methven 4 hilarious comedians that you’ve never heard of! They’ll be dispensing a barrage of gags, jokes and japes that’ll leave you howling with laughter! No bones about it, you’re in for a great night!
Underdog Comedy aims to disprove the common belief that just because somebody hasn’t been on the TV or The Netflix, they aren’t any good. This show aims to put a spotlight on the many hilarious and wonderful comedians we have in New Zealand who for whatever reason haven’t received a chance to shine, while spreading laughter and joy throughout the country! Our first step on this quest for world dog-mination is Methven!
Do you remember the best meal you ever had? Probably at some little hole-in-the-wall restaurant. You had no idea what the place was called or what you ordered, you couldn’t find your way back there even if you tried, but what you do remember is that the food was incredible. Underdog Comedy Night is the stand-up equivalent of that meal.
The lineup in August features Marina Taylor, an incredibly accomplished Toastmaster, coach and in general public speaker making her comedy MC debut, Andrei Costan, an eastern European expat working by day in the agricultural field, Tina Dee also known as “The Crazy Chicken Lady” who when she’s not selling homemade jams at the farmers market she’s raising all manner of creature from chickens to pigs to children, the show will be capped off by local boy Taylor Ruddle, a big friendly goofball from Dunsandel obsessed with pop culture, combat sports, and who spent his early 20’s living abroad in Japan. A Taylor-Taylor bookend, nice!
Come on down for dinner beforehand and enjoy some of Arabica’s delicious food and drink before an incredible night of laughs with 4 of NZ’s hidden gems.
