Experience the beautiful native forest while our ranger shares stories about the water collection area and how this freshwater source ends up in Wellington’s taps.

You’ll get to experience a beautiful native forest which is considered one of the best examples of lowland broadleaf forest in the lower North Island.

Not only this, but the walk takes you along the Orongorongo Pipeline Tunnel and to see the historic Morton Dam. The Morton Dam is one of the largest early concrete dams in New Zealand and has special engineering heritage significance because it was the first and largest of only two reinforced concrete buttress dams to be built in New Zealand.

This walk is restricted to 30 people so get in quick for this exclusive walk led by our knowledgeable park ranger. This walk will require a moderate fitness level. Please note that this walk is NOT suitable for children under 14 years of age.

If you can't make it on the day, please call/text the Ranger, Ricky Clarkson on 021 249 6473.
