Originally hailing from the UK, David Thorpe has been stomping his music in NZ since 2003. He is a man of many musical names and projects, Li’l Chuck The One Man Skiffle Machine, Davey Backyard, The Backyard Skiffle Band, The Skeatles to name but a few, but essentially, he is one guy with a musical mind like a firework display and a healthy obsession for Oldtimey, Quirky, Skiffolicious chaos.

He has dived so deep into the world Skiffle, that he recently talked with Rod Davis, an original member of The Quarrymen - a guy who was there, the day Paul met John and whom Paul would later replace in The Beatles.

He has performed at many high profile events around New Zealand including opening for American legend Jimmy Buffet, Bluesman Jerron 'Blind Boy' Paxton and The Topp Twins. His 2017 album Utility Blues hit No’6 on the official NZ albums chart.

On 19th November he will be performing An evening of Skiffle Roots and Blues, Part 1 will be an interactive family event and an opportunity for the audience to learn about the world of Skiffle, jam on the instruments and even join in the band! Part 2 will be a solo set with David playing a selection of his Li’l Chuck songs and good measure of classic Roots and Blues.

In an age where we are rushing around at breakneck speed, where everything is instant, sugar coated, airbrushed and overly polished, David brings us down to earth with some organic, all natural, whole grain, Skiffolicious goodness.

Tickets are $20 Adult pre sales with family & child concessions available
