Students will bring along one or more of their knives and learn some basic sharpening techniques, this is a “hands on” sharpening experience for beginners to learn and how to test if a knife is sharp, how to resharpen it and basic knife care.

At the beginning of this class, there be a brief introduction demonstrating the difference between a blunt and sharp knife, some common knife profiles, their uses and the best way to sharpen them. This will include the different tools that are commonly used for sharpening.

During the class we will be using several grades of diamond shaping stones, to give your worn blade a new geometry, Once the blades have a “burr” or “wire like” edge they will be “honed” with our canvas and leather strops.
