Our popular Family Day is back these school holidays!

Come to City Gallery Wellington and Look! Make! Discover! this Family Day. There will be a range of activities running throughout the day along with pop up performances.

Bloom (drop-in): Imagine and collaborate as a family using bright pink construction pieces to connect and construct whole new worlds.

Collage Making (drop-in): They say birds of a feather flock together but what a flock we’re creating! Use different materials and techniques to add feathers, feet, and a beak creating a bird unique to you.

Window Art (drop-in): Capture light with this colourful activity and bring our windows to life. Design and colour your own window decal to take home.

Words Love Art (drop-in): Art can make you think and feel in new ways. Using our wall of magnetic poetry share something about what you see and read what other people think and feel too.

Performance Nan and Tuna (11.30am): Nan and Tuna have been friends for 70 years and now it is time for one last adventure together. But before they leave they need to find someone to care for the river. A bilingual puppet show about eels, rivers and friendship.

M3 Mindfullness (1pm): Mindfulness, Tikanga Māori practices like pūrākau and whakataukī, and movement come together. Created for children to empower them and build resilience so they can change the world.

Performance The Puppet Painter (2pm): Enid is a trotting portrait painter extra-ordinaire. She sets up her easel in street corners, market places, festivals, capturing the likenesses of men, women, children, dogs and teddy bears the world over.

Art Encounter Jr. (11am & 2.30pm): Look and discover by joining one our tour guides to look closely at one artwork. Encounter art together as we tell stories, ask questions, and look closely to discover more.

Live Drawing with Paul Beavis (1.30pm-3.30pm): Join Children’s Book author and illustrator Paul Bevis for a live drop-in drawing session. Learn how Paul constructs delightful animal characters out of simple lines and shapes as we let our imaginations run wild!
