Performers from around New Zealand are coming together for this special one-night-only concert in Wellington which features compositions by Katherine Mansfield's close friend Arnold Trowell and two world premieres.
The programme performed by Martin Griffiths (cello), Polly Sussex (piano and viola da gamba), Emma Chatterton (piano) and Libbie Gillard (recitation) will include two world premieres: 'Cars on Lambton Quay' by composer Janet Jennings and a reading of 'The Chorus Girl and the Tariff', a newly rediscovered story believed to be by Katherine Mansfield.
This event is in association with the exhibition 'Mansfield & Music' at Katherine Mansfield House & Garden, which explores the important role of music in Katherine Mansfield's life and writing.
The Thorndon School Hall has been chosen as the venue as it was well known to Katherine Mansfield and Arnold Trowell in its previous life as the Sydney Street Schoolrooms.
Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. A Vaccine Pass is required for attendance. The venue is wheelchair accessible.
The #14 bus stops nearby or parking is available on the surrounding streets and at Wilson Parking, 38 Murphy Street (entrance from Halswell Street).
