Vaccine passes are required for anyone above the age of 12 years, 3 months to attend the Lighthouses and Lakes event. Please have your My Vaccine Pass ready on arrival.

Discover the hidden gem of the Parangarahu Lakes area, nestled against the rugged South Coast. You’ll experience stunning views of Wellington Harbour and the Cook Straight. Learn why the area is significant to iwi, and learn about the unique history of Pencarrow Lighthouse. There are two walks to choose from depending on your level of fitness; one up to look inside the lighthouse or a flatter lakeside stroll by the Kohangapiripiri Lake. Make sure you bring your lunch and snacks, suitable walking shoes, face covering for the bus trip, sun protection, layers and a light rain coat. Please note, this is an exposed site and no shelter.

There are 50 spaces on a bus that will transport you to and from the lake entrance - 14 km return. Face coverings are required to be worn while on the bus.

Bookings for this event are essential and will be available from 13 February 2022.
