STEPS (St Lukes Environmental Protection Society) is following Waitītiko Meola Creek from Owairaka Mt Albert to Te Tokaroa Meola Reef over two successive weekends. We will follow the path of Waitītiko as closely as we can as we make our way to the sea.
This is the first day, from Owairaka Mt Albert to Roy Clements Treeway.
Meet at the summit of Owairaka Mt Albert at 1.00pm on Sunday 4th Sept. The walk is 3 km long and will take approximately 2 hours.
We will get as close as possible to the source of the stream, have a look at farsighted conservation efforts, fresh spring water and clear wetlands in the middle of Auckland.
There will be a car to shuttle you back to the beginning of the walk if required (mask mandatory).
This is a free event but there is a limit of 25 attendees.
In case of bad weather, cancellation on the day will be advised here, on the STEPS website www.meolacreek.org.nz and our facebook page @STEPSNZ
You can join us on the second weekend to continue the walk to the sea.
This event is part of Conservation Week 2022.
