We are on the countdown to 2023, which we are sure you are all looking forward to! The best place to see in the New Year is going to be at the Soundshell, on Napier’s Marine Parade.

This year we have headline act AutoMatic80s! AutoMatic 80s is a world class group of musicians featuring the astonishing sound alike vocals and high energy stage antics of front man Justin Maclaren, backed up by the pitch perfect Pearl Runga (sister to Boh & Bic), drummer Glen Child, lead guitarist Ryan Wood, bassist John Blackburn.

We'll be kicking things off from 7pm with local singer songwriter Alexander Nicole, followed by one of Hawkes Bay’s finest musicians Michael Stodart, an internationally seasoned musician, singer/songwriter. Throughout his career has shared the stage with musical giants such as Van Morrison, Ian Dury and Joe Cocker as well as collaborating in the studio with legendary Elton John producer Gus Dudgeon. To show you how to get moving we will have two special performances from Rezpect Dance crew.
Napier will be putting on the full show for you with food trucks, and two massive fireworks displays, one at 9.45pm, and one at midnight. As tradition will have it, the Veronica Bell is being rung by Napier’s Mayor Kirsten Wise, and then the countdown begins to welcome 2023 and all it has to offer.
So get your friends and family together for what will be an unforgettable night.
This event is proudly presented by Napier City Council, Smokefree and Littlestone. Patrons are reminded there is a liquor ban in place in the CBD, and no fires are to be lit on the beach.
The event will go ahead, rain or shine unless it is deemed unsafe due to weather conditions.
