THE WENDYS
7.30 till late

Aotearoa’s only surf lifesaving, rock’n’roll band THE WENDYS, are hitting the road this summer for a 4-date tour of Te Waipounamu, South Island in support of their new single ‘Lo-Fi Lies’.

Dressed as lifeguards, The Wendys mix of surf rock and garage punk has saved the lives of the musically drowned all over the country since 2014. The band are notorious for their out of control, high octane performances and their all or nothing attitude. Songs such as ‘Get In The Flags’ ‘Let’s Go To The Beach’ and ‘Dropping In’ became instant crowd favourites with their catchy lyrics and unique take on surf safety.

The band have headlined major international surf comps such as The Single Fin Mingle in Sumner CHCH, Quicksilver Classic in Kaikoura, New Brighton Duke Festival of Surf and played the Cold Water Classic/NZ surf nationals in Ōtepoti, Dunedin for the last 5 years running.
The Wendys also headlined the Punch Club stage at Nostalgia Festival in 2016 and the inaugural Go Live! Festival in Ōtautahi, Christchurch in 2020.

Lo-Fi Lies is the first single from the forthcoming debut album, produced by Ryan Fisherman at the Hut recording studio in Ōtautahi between July – November 2021 . The single will be released on limited edition 7” lathe cut record, produced by Johnny Electric Lathe Cuts and available on your favourite streaming service from Friday 7 January, 2022.

Joining them in Whakatu/ Nelson are Canterbury University post-punk hearthrobs Marsha and from the top of the south, 6 piece funk favourites Dow P’dowdow.
