The sun provides us with warmth with its radiation, but also releases large amounts of charged particles into the solar system. These particles generate the aurora in the Earth’s polar regions, but they also have a lesser-known effect: driving ozone loss in the polar atmosphere.

Join us as Dr Annika Seppälä, from the Department of Physics / Te Tari Hū-o-te-Kōhao tells us about how charged particles released from the sun play a key role in regional level climate variability.

Note - This event will be held in-person at the Red traffic light level with limited seating - bookings are highly encouraged to secure a spot. Email bookings@ombrellos.co.nz or phone 03-4778773.

The talk will also be available live via Zoom. Register in advance here to receive the Zoom link via email: https://bit.ly/3C39ORi.
