Come along to "Early Sound Recording Techniques” (how they did it) with a slide/video presentation and live demonstrations of an Edison phonograph and an old wind up gramophone from the early 1900’s with Ted Adelman.
Ted, now retired, has a technical background covering from the old valve era through to modern optical fibre data networks. He worked for NZ Broadcasting, installing and maintaining the TV Transmission Network in the BOP and also has Telecommunications experience helping the then Telecom NZ installing, operating and designing the network for the first of their completely remote monitored and operated transmission networks.
He has installed and operated Optical fibre networks for the Transgrid Electricity distribution network in NSW Australia. He has a passion for restoring – repairing old electro-mechanical equipment. Since retiring he has installed a new transmitter for Village Radio and continues to provide technical support for them.
Tauranga Historical Society (THS) Talks are open to all. The $2 door charge includes afternoon tea and a chance to network with others that share your passion for history.
