'Wakefield Country Fete' handmade local crafts & foods Market, held annually, The oldest local craft market in the region, over 42 years old.

I am Nita Henry the CEO of the 'Wakefield Country Fete.' As of last year and held every year on the 2nd of January 9.30-2.30pm (Public Holiday) Glenn Turner entrusted me with the market and I will now be endeavouring to make this the highlight of Wakefield’s market events. Bringing people to Wakefield and maintaining this event as it is the oldest market in the region and been operating for the past 41 odd years.

I was the only person within the market who offered to take it on, as I felt it was a significant valuable asset to the community artisans and would be sad to have seen it die.

You can see by my below links that I am not only a local artisan but I am in the history books of NZ and my life is documented so far in the vault of Te Pupa as a designer who changed the face of NZ fashion in the 80's-90's. A story about me is in this months 'Nelson Magazine". July 2018
I assisted Kai foods fest and surrounding schools in Motueka with the Kai fest parades teaching the children craft, sewing designing skills to create their various outfits.

This year we are hosting a ‘Steam Punk’ theme dress up punters dressing to impress and a prize will be given for best junior steampunk boy and girl and adult man and woman. So get creative and let you imagination go wild... nothing is too over the top.
