Talented local sopranist, Alexandra Hope, will be performing an inspirational programme in the Chamber Gallery, Rangiora, on Sunday 4 June at 4.30pm. She will take you on a journey through continents and over time, from French chanson, Italian opera and German lied to the wonders of musical theatre.

We'd love you to join her, and accompanist Iola Shelley, for a wonderful late Sunday afternoon of song and piano.

Tickets: $20 Adults, $5 Students, available at Rangiora library (cash only please).

Introducing Alexandra Hope....

Alexandra studied at the University of Canterbury and is now completing her Master of Arts (Music) in Performance Voice and Composition.

Alexandra has been a member of UC Chamber Choir, Consortia for 6 years. She performed as 'Galatea' in Handel’s Opera "Acis and Galatea" and ‘Belinda’ in Purcell’s "Dido and Aeneas". She recently performed in the Christchurch New Zealand Opera Chorus for the 2022 performance of "Macbeth" at the Isaac Theatre Royal.

Alexandra enjoyed performing from a young age and plays several instruments, piano, violin, cello, flute and harp, gaining her Associate of the Royal Schools of Music in Voice in 2017. She was part of the NZSO Mentorship Programme under Associate Principle, violinist Donald Armstrong. Alexandra was a member of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain, Girls Choir, performing at the Sheldonian in Oxford and recording 'A Ceremony of Carols' on the CD 'A Festival of Britten'. Alexandra was a member of the UK National Schools Symphony Orchestra from 2011 - 2018.

As Musical Director of the North Canterbury Academy of Music, she is an inspirational leader to many people. Along with her busy commitments to music and study, Alexandra also pursues her other loves being a national level competitor in Aerobatics, coaching at ICE Gymsports North Canterbury, and competing at Junior Women's International Trampoline. Alexandra is also working towards her Commercial Pilots Licence.
