Nick Burfield and Andrea Reid have been collaborating and crafting their music for some time now, and it shows.

Their sound is raw and familiar, yet still manages to surprise. Finalist for the 2023 Best Folk Artist Tūī | Te Kaipuoro Taketake Toa, Butter Wouldn't Melt will melt your heart with their soulful stories, vibrant voices and faraway fables. Last year they released their debut album ‘1931’ with songs about important moments in New Zealand’s history, including ‘Eve of 31’, written about the Napier earthquake and ‘The Tunnel’ about the ghost of Wellington’s tunnel.

Each song is filled with dancing harmonies and country and blues-inspired picking, creating an old-time Americana vibe.

After two whirlwind tours of Aotearoa, playing three of the country's biggest Folk Festivals, and venues from Whangarei to Dunedin, they are now working on their sophomore album.

Lara Rose is a Dunedin-based singer songwriter. She has established her style of indie-folk, using writing to reflect on aspects of her own experiences. Recently, she toured the nation as one half of the folk duo, Tall Folk. In January 2022 they released their debut album ‘Wiser’, recorded at Port Chalmer’s Chick’s Hotel and brought to life by Dunedin’s most talented musicians.

Lara Rose will perform both her writings from this album as well as new works.
"Recorded in Port Chalmers by Tom Bell and mastered by David Glasser (Grateful Dead, Mandolin Orange) at Airshow Mastering in Colorado, this is as fine an album – be it local or international, country or folk or what have you – as you are likely to hear." - Graham Reid, Elsewhere

VillageMusic is especially pleased to bring these guys to the old Mt Eden hall, along with Lara Rose as a special guest (aka Tall Folk). This will be a 'listening' treat for sure.

You know the drill - bring friends, bring family and BYO - see youse at the door!
