Join us at Te Waka Huia o Ngā Taonga Tuku Iho Wellington Museum on the third Tuesday of each month for our after-hours series, Capital Conversations. Capital Conversations is a talk series that brings together an impressive array of local speakers, focusing on Wellington’s most innovative, creative and forward-thinking people, businesses and organisations – the coolest people from the coolest little capital.

In November, we are excited to have the amazing Zoë George share stories from her extensive broadcasting and journalism career, and her mahi in international cricket.

Zoë also has an academic background in sport sociology. Her work focuses on the human element in sport, and she has investigated the culture and welfare issues within gymnastics, hockey, canoe racing, cycling, bowls and rugby. Zoë’s also been a driving force behind toilet equity at our sports venues and recently delivered a TEDx talk on the subject.

She’s also a regular commentator on RNZ Nights and the Panel, and a keynote speaker, and an MC of events including panel discussions and conferences. In her personal life, she is an aunty to many, a keen shoe and house plant collector, and is a big supporter of the arts including sitting on the BATS Theatre board. She lives in Wellington with her three-year-old rehomed ragdoll cat Frank.

Zoë’s 50 minute talk will begin by speaking about her connection with Wellington as a city, and then talk about her advocacy work around equitable toilets (particularly at Basin Reserve). She will also share stories about her 23-year career as a sports journalist, and then move onto a 10 minute Q+A.

Doors open at 5pm, and the talk begins at 5:45 pm.

Ticket price includes one drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) and access to grazing platters throughout the evening. There will also be a cash bar available.
