Embark on a transformative journey through the traditions of Māori culture and spirituality, illuminated by the shimmering star cluster of Matariki. Set in our outdoor amphitheatre, you will be treated to a night under the Matariki stars to enjoy the enchanting and profoundly moving new play, .co.nz

After its mind-blowingly successful premiere in 2022, .co.nz is back after popular demand and continues to be free to attend with an optional koha. Booking is essential to secure your spot!

Synopsis
Three friends navigate the complexities of modern life during the Matariki season. As the stars rise in the night sky, they confront tough issues like discrimination and hate, grappling with their stagnation, relationships, and their place within Māori culture. Through storytelling, they reflect on their past, and seek ways to empower and connect with Te Ao Māori going forward, exploring its core concepts amidst the threat of technology and assimilation.

Can their wairua survive the onslaught of generational and institutionalised violence and reconcile past misconceptions? Will elitism and globalisation push them further away from their roots?

This is a powerful exploration of spirituality, philosophy, and customs that will leave you inspired and transformed. Don’t miss out on this captivating journey which will transcend you toward self-discovery and connection.

What To Bring
The show is performed in the Outdoor Amphitheatre and will go ahead even with a light sprinkling of rain. Audiences in 2022 enjoyed the novelty of the ever-changing weather as it added to the ambience and beauty of the show, so don’t let the weather deter you! We encourage you to dress warmly for a winter’s night outside.

Come prepared with:
- Wet weather gear
- Something to sit on (a blanket or cushion)
- Umbrella (preferably a small one – please sit at the back of the theatre if you bring one and be mindful of other patrons)
- Anything that will make you feel as comfy and cosy as possible!

Matariki is a harvest holiday and we intend to celebrate it as such. We will strive to provide kai for audience members and accommodate everyone for a night under the stars.
