This event is part of Conservation Week 2023 - www.conservationweek.org.nz

Join us in celebrating conservation week in Te Awamutu with a focus on the Mangapiko Stream. It has a key role in creating an ecological corridor stretching from Maungatautari to Pirongia so we'll be giving it a boost by planting natives and sharing knowledge on predator control, plant identification and care, rongoa, and tuna monitoring. The restoration of the ecological corridor from Maungatautari to Pirongia covers both biodiversity and cultural aspects and the project has been gifted the name 'Taiea te Taiao' by mana whenua.

Meet the collaborators at this event including the Taiea te Taiao project, Waipā District Council, Maungatautari to Pirongia Ecological Corridor Inc Soc, NZ Landcare Trust and Koroneiki Developments. The location of the event falls within a cultural 'stepping stone' of the project and more information about this will be provided on the day.

What to bring: spade, sturdy footwear, gardening gloves and snacks.

Please register online for the event here so we can manage numbers: https://nzlt.infoodle.com/f/TaieaTeTaiaoConservationWeekEvent2023.
