Peter Koopman Trio with Kevin Field (Sydney/NZ): Now Where album launch
For the past decade, guitarist, composer and New Zealander Peter Koopman has called Sydney home.
Drawing inspiration from Australia’s rich and diverse music scene, he has developed a unique voice on the guitar, and was awarded first place at the prestigious National Jazz Awards held at the Wangaratta jazz festival in Victoria in 2022. He is also sought-after as a sideman, having performed around Australia and internationally with artists such as Vince Jones, Katie Noonan, Aloe Blacc, Donny Benét and Matt McMahon among others.
As well as marking Pete's first CJC gig as a leader since 2017, this will also be the launch of "Now Where", a brand new album of original music available now on Bandcamp and all streaming services. Joining Peter will be long-time musical associate and fellow ex-pat Thomas Botting on bass and young up-and-comer George Greenhill on the drums, as well as a very special guest for one night only, the extraordinary Kevin Field on piano.
Together they will present a program of music from the album as well as some newer originals and a standard or two.
