Earth Day 2023 lakefront litter pick up

In celebration of Earth Day 2023 on April 22 we are inviting our community to join us for a lakefront clean-up!

We will be celebrating Papatūānuku and our beautiful district with a litter pick up.

Where: Meet at the Taupō Floatplane carpark on Redoubt Street
When: 10am – 12pm Saturday 22 April 2023
Win: Thanks to the team at Huka Falls River Cruise we have two Family Packages (two adult and two child passes) valued at $99 to give away to two lucky participants. Glide along the Waikato River to the stunning Huka Falls in a purpose-built riverboat - a fun activity for the whole family!

All supplies will be provided – just bring along your water bottle and wear closed toe shoes.

We’ll focus on collecting all the little bits of rubbish that can be so damaging to our lake’s ecosystem – things like cigarette butts, small plastic wrappers and other micro plastics.

To say thank you for your efforts we’ll be whipping up fresh Earth Day themed pancakes.

The Earth Day 2023 theme is ‘invest in our planet.’ So, take a moment and invest a little time into our local community, and you too can make a difference to our planet.
