Come and join us listening to classical and modern sounds that local pianists elicit from our baby grand piano to celebrate the end of the week. Every last Friday every month, 5-6pm at the Goethe-Institut in Wellington. We look forward to seeing you.

At the end of August, Clarinettist Nick Walshe and pianist David Codd will be performing music from a variety of German composers, both old and new, from the early romantic stylings of Johannes Brahms and Clara Schumann to the sweeping film music of Hans Zimmer and Kurt Weill.

Nick Walshe is a clarinettist, music teacher and arts administrator based in Te Whanganui a Tara/Wellington. He is currently section principal clarinet with Orchestra Wellington, and co-principal clarinet with the Royal New Zealand Air Force Band and also maintains a busy studio of clarinet and saxophone students, privately and in high schools. Nick works as a freelance musician for organisations such as the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Stroma New Music Ensemble, and the Capital Theatre Trust. He is also a clarinet artist teacher at Te Kōkī /New Zealand School of Music. Nick returned to Wellington in 2020 after completing postgraduate studies at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University in Montreal, Canada, where he studied with Todd Cope from the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.

David Codd is a New Zealand-born horn player and pianist. Originally from New Plymouth, New Zealand, David undertook a Bachelor of Music with Honours in Classical Performance Collaborative Piano under Dr Jian Liu at Victoria University of Wellington as well as secondary studies in French horn with Samuel Jacobs and Sebastian Dunn. David maintains a busy schedule of performances as a collaborative pianist, conductor, and horn player. As well as being a member of the Royal New Zealand Air Force Band horn section, David performs with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Wellington, and the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra. As a pianist David has a particular passion for collaborative work, enjoying performing with artists from NZSO and Orchestra Wellington.
