Aotearoa New Zealand is a nation of pet lovers – 64% of households own at least one companion animal, with a total pet population of 4.35 million. This is the second highest rate of pet ownership per capita in the world. Pets are more than animals sharing our homes, they are viewed as members of the family and valued companions. Why do we love our fur babies so much?
Join writer, illustrator and creator of the beloved Hairy Maclary children’s books Dame Lynley Dodd; one of New Zealand’s best known investigative journalists Mike White, author of How to Walk a Dog and Dogs in Early New Zealand Photographs; and cat lover and author of the award-winning Can You Tolerate This? Ashleigh Young in conversation with Cristina Sanders.
PLEASE NOTE: Cristina Sanders has replaced Deborah Coddington as the moderator of this event.
