To celebrate Wellington hosting the world's largest women's sporting event, you’re invited to a sparkling party at Whairepo Lagoon on Wellington’s Waterfront.
Hinemoana Ka Eke (the Strength of the Sea) celebrates the water surrounding Wellington and likens its never-ending movement to a football game.
Celebrations begin at 4:00pm, when three waka enter the lagoon to a dramatic welcome.
A spectacular performance and party follow, free for everyone to attend. You’ll hear local Wellington performers Riiki Reid and Deva Mahal singing up a storm along with a mesmerizing pyrotechnic and lighting display.
The two-hour spectacle finishes with a 15-minute flame cannon and laser light show set to a classic New Zealand soundtrack.
Entry to this event is free.
