Australian saxophonist Lachy Hamilton is fast becoming a leading voice in the Australian Jazz and Contemporary Music scene. Having honed his musical craft in various artistic scenes around the world, Hamilton now resides in Sydney, Australia.

Hamilton completed his Bachelor of Music (Hon.) from the James Morrison Academy of Music (university of South Australia) in 2017 where he studied closely with Jeff Clayton, Mat Jodrell, Carl Mackey, Angela Davis, James Morrison, and was the sole recipient of the 2016 Excellence in Performance Award. Hamilton was a finalist in the 2014 and 2015 James Morrison Scholarship, and was selected for the 2015 Telluride All Stars program, studying under Bob Montgomery, Josh Quinlan and Ernie Watts. Lachy was identified as one of SIMA’s (Sydney Improvised Music Association) 2021 Sonic Futures artist, which lead to a nationwide tour in 2022.

Lachy established himself as a strong voice in the new wave of Australian improvisers and composers, releasing his debut album 'Alchemy' in 2019 to critical acclaim. His latest project, a collaboration with contemporary Harry Sutherland (piano), sees the release of their album Jahl Heshi, accompanied by Jacques Emery (bass) and Alexander Inman- Hislop (drums). “jahl Heshi represents all that is cutting edge in Australian contemporary Jazz today” - Barry O’Sullivan.
