In this new New Zealand play, two estranged siblings attempt to reconnect and quickly discover how annoying they still find one another. As they push their way through the extraneous nonsense of family drama, they find themselves falling into a divide stretched exponentially wider by their years apart. While biking to a mutual friends party, the brother and sister question what it means to be part of a family, and what they mean to each other. Is their relationship worth saving, or do they even have a choice?
After bringing Music Sounds Better Out Here to Little Andromeda last year, Squash Co. Arts Collective is excited to return to Ōtautahi with award-winning playwright Jack McGee's (2023 winner of Playmarket’s Playwrights b425) most recent work: Long Ride Home.
Already premiering to a strong season in Wellington earlier this year, Long Ride Home is an intimate drama with a light touch, performed entirely on bicycles. It stars Anna Barker and Dylan Hutton, and is directed by Jack McGee.
