Matariki Planting with Transformation From the Roots Up group recreating a 'Kahikatea forest' next to Kirikiriroa Marae.

They are working with the local community i.e. Kirikiriroa Marae, Knighton school, and other volunteers to plant and establish a mixed podocarp forest (kahikatea, matai, rimu, totara etc.) as part of the ‘bush corridor’ linking the city to the river.

Meet at the 'Deer Stalkers' Hall Car park at 9:30am (969 Wairere Drive)., follow 'Community Planting' signs to area. You will need to bring a planting spade, wear covered shoes and a raincoat just in case, we go ahead rain or shine unless M.E.T Office issues a 'Weather Warning'.

Please do not attend if you have any 'flu' like symptoms.

For details of how you can help.
