Kōrua to play at Midday Concert
Lucas Baker and Noelle Dannenbring formed Kōrua violin piano duo, after having met at the 2020 Adam Summer School for chamber music. The pair have performed across New Zealand and Taiwan, and received coaching from pianists Jian Liu and Richard Mapp, and The New Zealand String Quartet. Lucas obtained a Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree at the New Zealand School of Music - Te Kōkī (NZSM) in 2022. He won the university’s 2022 concerto competition and was honoured to perform in a masterclass with violin virtuoso, Hilary Hahn. A present member of the 2022-2023 Adam Summer School Troubadour Quartet, he is one of six violinists selected to take part in the 2023 fellowship programme of the Michael Hill International Violin Competition.
Noelle obtained a Master of Music degree at the University of Waikato in 2018. She won the 2016 University of Waikato concerto competition and performed in the premiere and CD release of “Voices of Women” by NZ composer, Janet Jennings. She delivered her first International masterclass in Malaysia in 2019 and was a Young Artist in the 2021 Whakatipu (then, Wakatipu) Music Festival, run by the Michael Hill International Violin Competition. She is presently undertaking doctoral studies at the New Zealand School of Music – Te Kōkī.
Kōrua are excited to return to perform at the Midday Concert on April 14th.
The concert is from 12-1pm and will cost $10 at the door – cash only please.
