Korean Traditional Folk Art, Minhwa, is a colourful painting famous from the 17th to 19th centuries until the end of the Joseon era. Minhwa expresses one's honest desire and good wishes for others in bright colours, humour, and hope. While evoking profound empathy and familiarity in the observer, it is an invaluable part of Korea's cultural heritage.

Minhwa is usually produced to decorate the main door of a house or can be done on folded screens and other furniture to bring happiness, luck, prosperity, wealth, fame, and offspring, and even to ward off evil spirits.
