The team at Mitchell studios warmly invite you to join us for the opening preview of Petal Riot, a solo exhibition by Kylie Law, an artist whose authentic mixed media style focuses on the beauty of nature.
6 to 8pm, Thursday 2 November at Mitchell Studios gallery, 15 Ganges Road, Khandallah, Wellington.

After fostering a career in corporate communications and marketing for many years, Wellington artist Kylie Law has now turned towards her true passion. Her proudly self-taught art practice has developed over several years – graduating from part-time to now working as a full-time artist.

Working from a stand-alone studio at her home in Churton Park, Kylie translates delicate blooms using mixed media techniques and a feminine colour palette into vibrant and energetic pieces. Colour, shape and composition are key attributes in her paintings, and it is the combination of these aspects that make her work highly recognisable. Kylie’s work begins with the development of a colour palette, followed by an organic composition, and then moves into detailing and creating movement through floral shapes.

Petal Riot will encompass a variety of different sized and shaped works – utilising both panels and canvas. An abstract view of floral settings can be viewed throughout the body of work, from complete blooms to single petals. Shaped panels and floral-inspired skateboard decks, as well as small works, will be included alongside larger statement pieces.

Petal Riot will remain on display until Saturday 25 November and artworks will be available through our website after the opening preview.
Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday 10am to 3.30pm and Saturdays 10am to 2pm.
