Akane 紅音
Akane 紅音 is a musical unit playing traditional Japanese songs, in particular Minyo(民謡) and Shigin(詩吟). We play our songs on Shamisen (三味線) and Wadaiko (和太鼓). We are based in Auckland and have been performing at various events in the area for the past 5 years. We mainly play Minyo songs, which are Japanese folk songs from all around Japan, and Shigin, a mix of Japanese and Chinese poems. We play these types of songs in our special Akane style. We hope you all will enjoy the fusion of the graceful style of Shigin, the dynamic sound of Tsugaru shamisen and the very powerful Wadaiko beats!
