The story of the doomed romance between two lovers from feuding families is one of the most famous love stories ever written. Hamilton City Brass under the baton of Todd Smith will weave unforgettable music through the tale and tragedy of forbidden love.
William Shakespeare’s story of star-crossed lovers has inspired composers for more than a century. Join Hamilton’s premier brass band for an evening featuring music inspired directly and indirectly by ‘Romeo & Juliet’. Highlights include music from ‘West Side Story’; ‘Oh Verona’ from Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 movie ‘Romeo & Juliet’; Tchaikovsky’s ‘Romeo & Juliet – Fantasy Overture’; and Prokofiev’s ‘The Montagues and the Capulets’. Further highlights include ‘The Dreaded Hook & Groove’ and Purcell’s ‘Dido’s Lament’ featuring flugel horn Lisa Marshall.
