Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy an afternoon full of music.

Ailsa McGilvary-Howard and Monica Tønning have put together a program of wonderful pieces for cello and piano. The program consists of many highlights such as “The Swan” by Saint-Saëns, “Apres un reve” and “Sicilienne” by Fauré, movements from Bach's solo suite in G major as well as the first movement of Brahms' cello sonata in E minor amongst less well-known but absolutely stunning works such as Living Light by Sophie Hutch-ings and Vaughan William's “Six studies in English folksongs”.

The performers met by chance at St Paul's Presbyterian Church in Kaikoura in January 2023. Monica was using the lovely church as her rehearsal room while traveling through, and Ailsa came by for a service. They quickly agreed to meet in the evening to play chamber music together, and they have done so ever since. They use every opportunity to meet and rehears together and this has developed into a great musical match as well as a friendship. Back in August they did a concert tour in Kaikoura where it all started. With the generous support from Freemasons Lankhuyzen/Whetu-Kairangi Music Award they are now looking forward to sharing their joy of music in the Wellington region.

General admission $20, students $10, children free.
Ticket sale at the door (cash only).
