Following the recent, highly popular, bicultural shows Shakuntalah and Sita Unsung, Krishni Productions, in collaboration with the Hawke’s Bay Flying Trapeze, now brings another dramatic version of a classical, Indian epic - Takshaka, King of the Snakes - staged with the Hawke’s Bay Indian Cultural Centre’s (HBICC) annual Made For A Cause 2023 event.

Takshaka, a Hamlet-like figure, finds himself battling the forces of darkness in a political and personal struggle which embraces eternal, but ever-modern issues of ecology and power. This tension-filled story is embellished with superb costuming, beautiful dancing, aerial elements and evocative music.

As always with Krishni Productions, this classical myth adaptation brings a rich and wholly-new dimension to the Hawke’s Bay performing arts scene.

This year’s HBICC Made For A Cause event will feature the music feast, Dr. Wuts & the Bindas Bollywood Band, and will support the charity Re-Source by donating part of the proceedings. Not to be missed!
