Girl in a savage world

Winner of the 2023 Taite Prize for Best Independent Debut and a three-time nominee at the NZ Music Awards, Theia has earned accolades from Rolling Stone and Billboard. She is at the forefront of a new generation of wāhine toa in music, determined to push boundaries.

Fresh from touring the US and Canada, celebrated singer and songwriter Theia presents this special performance of reimagined songs from her critically acclaimed alt-pop catalogue alongside dreamy waiata from her award-winning reo Māori project, Te Kaahu.

Theia’s lyricism in English is often raw and challenging, while Te Kaahu explores cultural identity, the environment and spirituality. Although seemingly worlds apart, at the heart of both projects is a songwriter and storyteller with great depth. Girl in a Savage World brings both musical identities together for the first time in a potent and thought-provoking live show, reinforcing the power that music has in bridging difference. Expect soaring heights and devastating depths.

"One of the most exciting voices in pop to emerge from New Zealand in the last five years"
