Titan has long been considered one of the most viable locations to detect biological molecules outside Earth; being the target of a series of remote telescope and spacecraft explorations. Despite being harmful to us, cyanides are abundant on Titan where they are thought central players in origin-of-life chemistry. In the safety of his laboratory, Dr Courtney Ennis explores the role of cyanides on Titan: from forming cyanide clouds and snow in the stratosphere, to their possible role in generating components of DNA on the surface of this cold, exotic world.
